A few hours ago, I landed in Los Angeles, turned on my phone, and confirmed what you already know. Sony Pictures Television is replacing me as showrunner on Community, with two seasoned fellows that I’m sure are quite nice - actually, I have it on good authority they’re quite nice, because…

i seriously hope that no one is upset that steve is most likely a christian
i mean, it doesn’t undermine his character & personality one bit

like wow are people actually being serious about this
tumblr just stop

wait are there people who are really actually angry about that possibly being a thing

I thought that this was a kindhearted jab at Steve’s good-ol’-boy-ness.
But we all know that if Steve is a Christian, he’d be a Christian like Mr. Rodgers was a Christian - he’d be devout in his faith, and use his faith to guide his life, and be absolutely accepting of everyone else, completely genuinely, and he’d never snidely say ‘I’ll pray for you’ to seem superior to his non-Christian friends.
This also supports my theory that Steve Rodgers and Fred Rodgers are actually related - Fred was his younger brother.

Also, just saying, neither Thor nor Loki are anything like the Norse deities they are based on.
The idea that their existence as superheros being able to change Steve’s faith is a very silly one.
Go talk to an Asatru about Thor and Loki as superheros, I’m sure it would be an amusing chat.

I personally am an agnostic who tends to avoid organized religion as much as possible.  But I respect it when it works for people in the right way.  Steve Rogers is, to my knowledge, an old-fashioned Christian in, I agree, the Fred Rogers mold.  I have nothing against that kind of old-fashioned, decent, resolute faith, and I don’t see why anyone else should give a fuck.

It’s also worth noting that Steve Rodgers is from the 1940s, which was before the religious right went balls-out insane in America. He would probably dislike most of the stereotypical “nutjob” Christians today, and if you thought he could barely restrain himself from punching Tony Stark, I’d be legitimately scared if he ever learned about Westboro Baptist Church.
